Dr. Rodriguez DMD is a specialist in dental implants. By focusing on ensuring that patients understand the importance of dental implants and how they can make a significant life impact, Dr. Rodriguez DMD is committed to the restoration of long-lasting, durable, and good-looking teeth. Many people have been plagued by tooth loss for years. While some learn to live with the changes in diet, train themselves how to speak differently, or just accept the embarrassment of missing a tooth, others have turned to dental technology to make a change. There are numerous ways a person can address tooth loss. The most common are dentures and bridges, which can do a good job. However, we have found that these do not address the very root of the problem and are limited to being cemented or attached with wires in the mouth. For a tooth to have a strong and stable base, it must be connected to a root, and Dr. Rodriguez DMD has found that the only way to achieve this is with dental implants. Dental implants use a tiny titanium screw to mimic the root of a natural tooth, thus providing a stable base on which to secure a dental crown.

Dr. Rodriguez DMD will be the first to admit that dental implants have undergone a long road to acceptance by mainstream dentistry. For many years, dental implants were considered to be merely an aesthetic solution to tooth loss. That attitude has been reflected in many insurance company policies that treat dental implants as an elective procedure. Unfortunately, some of that bias still exists today. Dr. Rodriguez DMD is one of the few people who truly understands why this misunderstanding occurs. As someone concerned about the aesthetics of the teeth, as most patients are, Dr. Rodriguez DMD believes that a dental implant can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Because we can give you a replica tooth better-looking than the original, many consider this merely an exercise in looks. The truth is, however, dental implants do far more than just provide you with beautiful teeth. Scientists and dentists have discovered critical links between the health of the jawbone and the root of a tooth, especially one mimicked perfectly by a tiny titanium implant.

Scientific studies have shown that a root provides critical stimulus to a jawbone, allowing it to convey to the body that it still has an important function to fulfill. In the absence of that stimulus, the jawbone can go through resorption, where important bone density is leached away by the body for other purposes. This can affect the facial structure and the stability of the other teeth. With a dental implant providing the stimulus required by the jawbone, this is no longer an issue. It is a perfect example of how dental implants placed by Dr. Rodriguez DMD are a perfect blend of form and function.
